The AES Hawaiʻi Foundation awards grants to nonprofit organizations and community groups in the local communities that AES Hawaiʻi serves, as well as addressing statewide needs. Prior to distributing grants, the AES Hawaiʻi Foundation engages with the community in an inclusive dialogue to understand the applicant’s needs and priorities, and where they intersect with the Foundation’s four pillars:
This dialogue informs our grantmaking and can take the form of community meetings, individual meetings with key community leaders, and/or discussions with respected community organizations. After engaging in this dialogue, the AES Hawaiʻi Foundation then awards grants to eligible 501(c)(3) organizations based on mission-driven criteria. These grants may be for projects identified by the Foundation or may be awarded through the Foundation’s regular grant application process.
